Laser Welding
In jewelry repair, the laser welding machine enables us to weld on a piece of jewelry without removing gemstones that are sensitive to heat. The laser welding process uses the same metal as the original piece of jewelry, rather than solder, which is a metal with different properties that melts at lower temperatures and can sometimes show a slightly different color than the original metal.

Custom Jewelry Design
Having a piece of jewelry custom designed can be a fun and rewarding experience. The process from start to finish generally takes four weeks, and you are able to see the piece of jewelry progress through many of its stages. Jewelry Appraisals
At Olufson Designs our appraisals are done in-house. We focus on appraisals for insurance purposes, or “retail replacement value.” This type of appraisal is used by insurance companies to replace a piece of jewelry with a comparable, new item. The cost for appraisals varies by piece. Generally, pieces of jewelry with many gemstones cost more because of the time involved to identify and estimate the weights and qualities of each gem.
